I have mostly bitten my tongue on the low level rancor on Tim Leary--
though it may be the bitterest and deepest cause of division ever to
hit the cryonics community. However, Brian Wowk's comment:

>As matters turned out, both Alcor and CryoCare made a serious error
>in bending over backwards to accomodate Timothy Leary. That error is:
>NEVER TRY TO FREEZE SOMEONE FOR THE SAKE OF WHO THEY ARE, INSTEAD OF
>WHAT THEY WANT.

Brian, it is true that Tim was not wildly enthusiastic about cryonics.
But, until he was utterly offened by certain people in his own house,
he was "bending over backwards" to help US.

The lose in the case of Dr. Tim Leary is not Tim's, he is ashes, and
will never feel lose again. The lose (and the failure) is ours. Tim
was one of the more significant and interesting people of this century,
and I for one feel the lost like that of the only copy of a book being
burned. Our future has been made less interesting as a result of the
*stupid* way this was handled, and there are many people who will be
upset with the people who screwed up for decades. I would appreciate
this being the last post on the subject.
