Subject: Pizer replies again to Platt

I hate to keep dragging this on. I know it is painful for those who truly
liked Tim Leary, but we must clear this up.

Charles Platt writes:

> Now that the inevitable Dave Pizer has assured us that he never heard
> Timothy Leary say he did not want to be frozen (which merely means that
> Pizer didn't bother to telephone Leary during the last three or four
> weeks of his life),

It is true that I did not call Tim during the last few weeks of his life.
I thought it best not to interfere. CryoCare was in charge. I know
from experience that it's not in the patient's best interest for other
cryonics companies and their personnel to get involved during this crucial
period when the patient is going through all kinds of hell. Interference
can cause extra problems--and you have plenty of problems already, even in
the "good" cases.

This is not true. Tim Leary was one of us for 5 years. If there is any
reason for anyone to feel embarrassed, CryoCare caused its own
embarassment. The sad thing here is that Platt shows no remorse. It
appears all he wants to do is avoid any possible imputation of blame.

"We mind our own business" ??????????

Charles how can you make such a statement when *everyone* knows that
CryoCare was started out of a year or more of public criticism of Alcor.
CryoCare promoters (before and after CryoCare was formed) made public
claims that Alcor was not doing cryonics well enough and they would
start CryoCare and do cryonics better.

Alcor members were solicited for years and were told all kinds of untested
claims as to why CryoCare was better.

> I think it's way past time for a similar attitude of restraint and common

We do not have to criticize CryoCare publicly--your public record does that
for you. We are truly sad that Tim Leary did not get frozen and it is
also sad that you don't express any remorse.

In my opinion, lack of respect for others is why Alcor opened the door
as wide as it did for certain individuals to leave.
