The Prometheus Project:
Convincingly demonstrated, scientifically proven and published,
fully reversible, long-term brain cryopreservation within 10 years.
Latest Pledge Totals
As of midnight PDT September 8, 1996, the total of pledges is $307,200
per year for each of 10 years. The latest pledge came from Jim Yegerlehner,
who in private email received on August 27 commented: "This will certainly be
one of my more aggressive investments :)". I believe that it should be of
interest to everyone that Jim is not only not signed up with any cryonics
organization but is also not a subscriber to CryoNet. Nor is he the first to
have pledged who is in neither of these categories. As I have stated many
times, I believe that the Prometheus Project will be a major vehicle for
involving many life-extensionists who will not become involved with cryonics
in its present form. Currently, 38% of the pledgers are not signed up for
cryonics!
Jim also went on to express concern about the need for some kind of
oversubscription plan to make up for those pledgers who do not approve the
project plans or otherwise withdraw. As I explained to him, the method of
accomplishing this *was* planned from the beginning but seemed so obvious
that it was only implicit in the original project description (the updated
description includes it explicitly). The *Project* does not begin when we
reach the $1M in pledges. What begins is the *approval process* - the process
of getting all pledgers to sign on the dotted line that they agree with the
plans and to actually purchase shares in the corporation. While this approval
process is proceeding the pledge campaign will continue. Only when we get $1M
worth of people who have signed share purchase contracts, will the actual
corporate and research operation begin and those contracts become valid and
binding.
My sincere thanks go to Jim for his expression of confidence that his
pledge will be a profitable investment, and for his desire to greatly improve
the chances to vastly extend his life.
With some modifications from extra information, the pledge totals in
each dollar level are now:
3 for $50,000 per year for 10 years,
8 for $10,000 per year for 10 years,
7 for $5,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $4,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $2,500 per year for 10 years,
5 for $2,000 per year for 10 years,
2 for $1,500 per year for 10 years,
1 for $1,200 per year for 10 years,
21 for $1,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $500 per year for 10 years.
The 50 pledges total $3,072,000 over all ten years.
38% of the pledgers are not signed up with any cryonics organization.
