Subject: SCI. CRYONICS research, PPP

Yesterday Dave Pizer suggested cryonicists might want to donate
money to Alcor or Cryonics Institute for immediate acceleration of
research on extensions of the Visser method.

First, one correction: CI does not have tax exempt status, and a
donation to CI is not tax deductible. But donations to the
Immortalist Society ARE tax deductible, and IS will be in there
pitching also.

Now, attention please all Prometheus Project (PP) pledgers:

Your pledges to PP will not require cash until 1998. Probably most
of you could begin those annual payments now, if PP were ready to
go. For most of you, the motive is mainly to improve the chances of
survival for yourselves and your families. So why not consider
making a donation equal to your annual pledge NOW for a project
that is READY to go with very promising NEW technology? (You might
think of it as the Prometheus Precursor Project, PPP.) Maybe give
half to IS and half to Alcor. That will HELP PP, since PP will then
be ready to launch, in 1998, from a much higher base of
information.

The launching of the new CI, IS, and Alcor research does not depend
on your donations; it will proceed in any case. But the RATE of
progress (and the height of the PP launching plateau) could well
depend on your contributions NOW.

For those who are interested in the profit angle (not just
cryonics, but e.g. organ banking), you might ask the Vissers about
buying shares in their company. (This is merely a SUGGESTION; I
don't even know if the Vissers would consider selling any stock.)

So how about it, PP people? Not if and or but, not a contingent
pledge based on hypothetical conditions, but real money right now
for real progress THIS YEAR, THIS MONTH. If you have pledged $1,000
to PP annually, send a check for $500 each to the Immortalist
Society and to Alcor, today. (We will coordinate our work.) If you
have pledged $50,000 yearly, send us each $25,000 now. The life you
save may be your own.

P.S. If we get a decent response, this will put some substance in
the PP promoters' assurance that there is no "competition;" then I
will make a personal pledge to PP, and recommend that others do
also.
