However, he is too busy working to further cryonics to respond to the deluge of dissing that has flowed from the computers of those whose interests are not consonant with CI's and IS's intentions to do the kind of research that needs to be done NOW to insure that people desiring cryonic suspension will have the very best possible procedures made available to them at the earliest possible date. After all, the Visser method will be known to all when her report is published in CRYOBIOLOGY or some other scientific periodical. The reason I am communicating is that I think a little bit of humor might be welcome among the sour attitudes dominating Cryonet. One of the contributors to the Immortalist Society research fund is Paul Michaels, with his wife Maureen, who reside in England. He has been our guest when we lived in Michigan and we found him to be a fine and very witty gentleman. He attached a condition to their donation: "All researchers must wear white lab coats whey they are doing their research." I want to add that it was disappointing to see Michelle Boorstein's AP release and find no mention of CI's part in making the Visser demonstration possible. Robert, as President of CI, initiated the invitation to the Vissers to come to the U.S. and invited Alcor to participate in making the demonstration possible. In addition, CI shared the cost and the Vissers were guests in our home. However, we bear the disappointment philosophically; the importance of such publicity is to further the cryonics movement and we believe this was accomplished. One more thing: There have been public and private expressions of concern that the Visser method or its adaptations might result in higher costs for cryonic suspension. While obviously no promises can be made at this stage, preliminary estimates suggest that the minimum Cryonics Institute suspension fee of $28,000 will NOT have to be raised. Mae A.
