X-Message-Number: 6980 From: (Randy) Subject: SCI.CRYONICS Alcor & Visser make AP Wire story Date: Thu, 26 Sep 1996 03:09:35 GMT Found this story about Alcor demo of Visser method written by Michelle Boorstein on the Boston Globe national news AP wire at this location: http://www.boston.com/globe/ap/cgi-bin/retrieve.cgi?%2Fapwir%2Fnation%2F%2F267%2F017 You can cut/copy and paste that URL into your web browser, but it may be gone in a day, so search AP archives, if so. The story is quite favorable and leans to the "gee whiz" school of science journalism. The story describes the recent Visser method demo at Alcor. Cryonics & Alcor are mentioned briefly and Alcor is quoted as saying that they hope to apply method to whole-body preservation. Reaction from Greg F as quoted in the article is non-committal and neutral. What I find interesting is the lack of the typical nose for a salacious story on the part of Michelle Boorstein. How was she convinced to disregard the neuro aspect? Why such a respectful attitude towards cryonics ( or perhaps lack of disrespect would be more accurate)? Or is she other than disinterested in cryonics? Quite a coup for Alcor and cryonics. Keep up the good work. Randy Smith Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=6980
