This is an interesting idea, but merely encasing the body in amber 
alone would not protect the most important part...the brain.  The body would 
still need to be perfused with some sort of fixative to arrest internal 
decomposition.  If such a fixative could be found or developed which would be 
safe to use, then Amber Suspension would probably be the best method.  

Amber encasement alone may be useful to store personal DNA samples for
future use.  
I have used Canadian balsam to preserve some samples of my own.  
I don't know if it will work, but time will tell.  This method is inexpensive
to do, and right now is better than not having a sample stored at all.  
I also intend on having DNA samples stored in LN2 as soon as I can fund it.
