Subject: Prometheus Project Suggestion

Here's a suggestion for the Prometheus research project. Test the
efficacy of the following cryopreservation solution in rat hearts. The
formula is: Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM), 10
dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), 20% fetal calf serum (FCS) and 0.1 mol/L
trehalose. When this formula was tested it enabled fully reversible
cryopreservation of dog trachea rings, which were used as transplants,
after storage was in a deep freezer at -85 C for 285 days.
