Subject: Prometheus -- Don't forget ACS!
From: (Edgar W Swank)

Paul Wakfer posted in Cryomsg 7228:

... That is why I have asked various 501(c)3 organization
connected with cryonics and life extension to be willing to
accept donations to the Project. So far the only one which has
agreed is the Life Extension Foundation.

Not true! Paul forgets the American Cryonics Society. We have
posted on our web page at

  http://home.earthlink.net/~cryonics

... ACS agrees to accept Prometheus-directed pledges and
(eventually) donations subject to a legal opinion (not yet
obtained) that this practice is legal and does not jeopardize
our tax-exempt status. One possible workaround if there is a
problem would be for the donor to purchase Prometheus shares
directly, then donate them to ACS.

And there already has been one pledge, from me personally,
directed through ACS for an $8000 lump-sum, which Paul said at
the time he would treat as equivalent to a 10-year pledge of
$1000/year.
