Subject: Full Body vs. Head Only suspension
Date: 31 Dec 1996 22:51:21 GMT

Hello,
I'm new to the cryonics idea, just learned about this subject from
a documentary on cable tv about a month ago. I have a question:
Am I correct in assuming that the *only* advantage to doing a head
only suspension is financial?? It seems to me that there is absolutely no
other *advantage* to the head only option. Is this correct?
Presumably, 300 or so years from now, when and if reanimation
becomes possible, the doctors and scientists will be in a much better
position to sever the head from the body, if they deem it wise. Right now,
doctors & cryonicists have no idea of *exactly* what steps will be
necessary in order to reanimate a frozen person. Therefore, it is quite
possible that severing the head now, right after death, might cause a very
big problem for the scientists 300 years from now, because today we are
just *guessing* about what specific reanimation techniques & procedures
will be available in the future.
So, if there are good reasons to choose a head only suspension,
other than the financial reasons, please explain those reasons to me.
Thanks!
