X-Message-Number: 7428 Date: 05 Jan 97 15:55:48 EST From: DOLINOFF <> Subject: Re # 7370 I keep the messages of interest for me only in the printed form. Thus, it would take me time to repeat here as this is the rule, the message I answer. Thus, I only tell that I answer here the very good remarks of Mr Olaf HENNY's message 7370 with which I fully agree. It is why I let the listers know the answer I have made to SCIENCE ET VIE that has published a terrible paper against our Idea on January 1. I begin by to tell them of their technical mistakes and then ask them to publish in their next "FORUM" the following message I sign with my titles : " Yes : freezing of the whole human body inflicts traumatisms and anything as 10~24 out of the 10~28 atoms are displaced. Yes : we hope that the nanomachines reach the proper spot, analyze the damages and restore them. This is a crushing task. But progresses of science are also crushing. In the beginning of this century, neither the neutron, nor the DNA nor the atomic energy were known, and to go into the moon or to see in PARIS anyone who is in SIDNEY seemed forever impossible. The only conclusion for a true scientist is : nobody can tell that the chances of a future return back to life are certainly zero, and only will be able to try them those who will have been frozen. Not those who will have become carbonic gas, methan, ammonia and water vapour. And the molecular assembly constituting a human body is of a price impossible to estimate for those who dont believe to own an immortal soul ! I shall help them to travel to the States when alive. Let the others go to the tomb." Now, I add for the listers that belonging me, when I say : It is not sure that the chances of a future return back to life of the suspended are equal to zero, there are NOW only two possible conclusions : OR : the told chances are PERHAPS equal to zero OR : the told chances are PERHAPS different from zero But the told phrase : It is not sure that the chances of a future return back to life of the suspended are equal to zero, has not as consequence : the told chances are CERTAINLY different from zero. NOT CERTAINLY ZERO is completely different from CERTAINLY NOT ZERO. It is impossible to try to transform the one into the other. Only in a far future will it be possible to chose between these two phrases : OR : the told chances were EQUAL to zero OR : the told chances were EQUAL to one. It is impossible now to know which of these two phrases will have proven to be true. To understand better these problems,I have begun to read Mr ETTINGER's paper on the mathematical calculation of the present chances. But I confess to have been unable to understand the mathematics of the level they were, because it has been a long delay since I finished my studies. Also, the subtlety of the ideas was out of my reach. It is why I have been unfortunately obliged to abandon to try to understand this booklet.
