X-Message-Number: 7455 Date: Wed, 8 Jan 1997 09:48:33 -0500 (EST) From: Charles Platt <> Subject: Foolishness Mike Darwin wonders if some people will worry about being videotaped at the Alcor Technology Festival after they have signed an agreement allowing the tape to be used in any manner at all. When I read my own copy of this remarkable agreement, which is about as user-friendly as a neuropreservation contract, I saw the need to protect my valuable reputation, so I fabricated a "happy-face mask" to bring along. I will be glad to create additional happy-face masks for everyone who shares Mike's concerns. These useful accessories can make every attendee as anonymous as a "smile" button, and will also add to the upbeat, cheerful vibes of the event. Regarding the other section of the Agreement, in which all attendees must pledge to behave themselves, I was somewhat surprised by this but was quite happy to sign it because of course I always *do* behave myself. In addition I was reassured by the fairness of the pledge when an Alcor spokesperson told me that it must be signed by every attendee (not just the known trouble makers), even including Ms. Olga Visser. All right, so much for the foolishness. Now perhaps we can enjoy a productive conference. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=7455
