Subject: Feedback sought on research at Pretoria university.

On the 14th of May 1996 the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet carried the
following article:

(In translation:)
Medical doctors at the Pretoria University in South Africa have found
a new chemical mixture that enables the cryonic preservation of hearths,
kidneys and livers. The organs can later be thawed and used as
transplants.
So far the method has only been used on organs from rats and mice, but
later this year (1996) it will be tried out on the hearth of a pig.
The new technology might constitute a breakthrough for transplant-surgery.
Organs kan be stored for a long time enabling a more thourogh testing
of the tissue type thereby preventing rejection by the recipient.

(end of article.)
If anyone has any more feedback on the above technology,
please let me know.

Ps. Unrelated of the above story, 2 Norwegian newspapers are
presently working on articles about cryonics.
I have told them about the Cryonet mailinglist and
about the following newsgroups: alt.sci.cryonics, alt.sci.life-extension
and alt.sci.nanotechnology,
and about the extropian mailinglist
The newspapers Gateavisa, (an alternative paper)
and the newspaper Verdens Gang, (Norways largest)
both seem to treat the topic seriously.
If anyone would like to provide any information for the two reporters
please e-mail such to me, and I will forward it.
I am meeting with the reporter from Gateavise at 2 am Tuesday January the
14th and with the reporter from Verdens Gang at 6pm Thursday January the
16th. (Norwegian time, which is about 9 hours ahead of California time.)

For your information I attach how one can subscribe to the Extropian
mailinglist:
