Subject: It Might Work

It occurs to me that "It might work" was the original, implicit motto of
cryonics activists, based more on hope than evidence. I assumed that this
motto had been superceded by a slightly more informed version along the
lines, "It may work, depending on the following variables which we are
attempting to measure and control." But to judge from some reactions to
the Visser treatment of AIDS patients, "It might work" is still very much
an instinctive cryonics response (not just here but on sci.cryonics); and
to me, this is one of the great embarrassments of cryonics.
