Subject: CRYONICS: Collectivist cryonicist?

29 April 1992/372pno

Michael Paulle says:
If Mitchell is handled in our favor, Sunnyvale should be
considered. Hang the competition nonsense. We are trying
to give ALL cryonics patients the best care possible
no matter who they sign up with.

What's this "hang the competition nonsense"? And the "we" business?
Michael, are _you_ providing this care to cryonics patients? The
*reason* this competition exists (Alcor/Trans Time, mainly) is a
direct result of the very real differences in standard of care
given suspension patients.

Do you seriously believe that we should be one big, happy, share-all
family, when groups like Trans Time won't even do proper medical
procedure on their HIV-positive members?  You've got to be kidding;
surely you've been following the discussion here on those matters,
and have read Steve Harris' comments on this.

If you feel the urge to open a cryonics charity, to care for
"ALL cryonics patients", then feel free to do so. Quite frankly -
and speaking only for myself - I'm becoming quite irritated with
people who don't take the time to examine the fundamental differences
between the organizations, and who offer shoddy quick-fix solutions.
