X-Message-Number: 7760 Date: Tue, 25 Feb 1997 22:11:03 -0800 From: Paul Wakfer <> Subject: Prometheus Project News More Pledges Two more pledges have been received which put the pledge total over the $360K mark to $360,400 per year. The first was received from Ralph Merkle who I had been encouraging both to join several other nanotechnologist pledgers and to place his prestigious name among the list of Project supporters. Ralph wrote: >Provided "a certain cryobiologist" is involved in some central way, >I'll pledge $1,000/year for 10 years. The second pledge was made by Jay Prime Positive, who wrote: >Ok, your "if, if, if,... " language on the web site, and your >SHOUTING of > >IT IS NOT SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN, AND THEREFORE MAY BE FALSE, THAT >ANYONE CURRENTLY BEING CRYOPRESERVED *CAN EVER* BE RESTORED WITH >THEIR MEMORY, IDENTITY, AND FULL MENTAL ATTRIBUTES INTACT. > >have convinced me that I should pledge support. My resources are >currently limited so I can not offer more than $500 per year. This >is equivalent to 5% of my annual income, a rate which I will keep up >as my income increases. Jay Prime does: Freelance programming, design, and instruction in C/C++, Java, HTML for Dos and Windows(3.x, 95) with address: email: , voice mail: 1 206 858 3406, 1 310 535 3308 I urge everyone to give Jay Prime some more business (so that his pledge can be increased, why else? :-). Unless he can increase his pledge to $1000 soon, we will need to find someone to match the pledge and join him to make the $1000 per year minimum. I am confident that one or both of these will happen. That's why I'm adding his pledge to the total already. 21CM and Prometheus Obviously, the great news from 21CM gives the Prometheus Project's goals a large boost and a chance to be accomplished even sooner than originally planned. However, as Brian Wowk has now made clear, whole-body human vitrification is still a long way from demonstrably reversible brain cryopreservation, let alone perfected suspended animation. Much more research needs to be done, and much more money needs to be pledged, raised and spent on that research. Discussions are currently underway concerning how 21CM and the Prometheus Project can work together on this Project and the results of these discussions will be announced as soon as possible. In the meantime, let's keep those pledges coming in. The chances of the Prometheus Project's successful accomplishment never looked brighter. -- Paul -- Paul Wakfer email: phone:909-481-9620 pager:800-805-2870 HELP TO ACHIEVE - PERFECTED SUSPENDED ANIMATION WITHIN 20 YEARS!
