Subject: About Glands and Hormones

Hi all:

I have on a couple of earlier occasions mentioned my
concern, that I do not consider it sufficient to preserve my
central nervous system (CNS) to preserve my personality, but
that it is also important that my endocrine system come
'with me', because it determines my sensuality,
aggressiveness and overall attitude. This has been both
times, in a show of unanimity, rare in this forum ;),
completely ignored by everybody, i.e. nobody felt it worth
commenting on (apparently everybody here is entirely
governed by dry grey matter, which should make uploading
easy). :)

It just has occurred to me, that I experienced in the recent
past vicariously an episode, which will illustrate, what I
mean.

Hans (not his real name) used two of his summer breaks,
during preparations for his Ph.D. in Germany, to upgrade his
English here in UBC, Vancouver, B.C.

He liked the city so much, that he decided to emigrate here
right after completion of his Ph.D. He was accepted by
Immigration Canada for permanent residency well before his
academic pursuits were completed.

During a hiatus between thesis and thesis defense he decided
to visit a friend, (I call her Gina) in Italy, whom he had
met in Vancouver. Well you guessed it; something sparked,
and the dilemma was: are 'we' committed enough to each other
to come together to Canada, could Hans live in Italy or Gina
in Germany to sort out their readiness for commitment to
each other, despite the language problems each would
encounter in the other's country?

I submit: If Hans had been uploaded into a construct with
his CNS only, right after receiving his Ph.D., he would be
sitting here sipping Starbucks. Had he been uploaded with
CNS c/w an intact glandular system, he would be
perambulating between Italy and Germany, just as I presume
(I have not heard from him for awhile, - it seems Gina's
magnetism outpowers that of an old man ;>), he is doing now,
providing of course, that Gina's affection can be extended
to include constructs. ;)

I would sure like to hear any good arguments defending, that
both constructs, with or without endocrine system would act
alike in the above case. If such a case cannot be made
convincingly, then I will feel vindicated in my belief, that
the glandular system forms an integral part of my
personality and should be cryopreserved along with my CNS.

Just because this forum does not appear to include
endocrinologists, that does not mean, that glands
and hormones are unimportant to the "I".
