One and a Half Pledges Received

Gerald Olschewski has pledged $1500 per year to the Prometheus Project.
$1000 is as an individual pledge and $500 is joined with Jay Prime
Positive to make a total joint pledge of $1000 per year. Gerald becomes
the first resident of Germany to make a pledge to the Project.

In his pledge message Gerald wrote:

>I want to contribute my share to this great idea

and later:

>My pledge is open, since I think support is not only a matter of
>money but also of showing that one believes in the project one wants
>to support.

My sincere thanks to Gerald for his pledge and for his support.

New Promotion Technique

The previous pledger, Tad Hogg, made a comment regarding what "pushed"
him into pledging now, which was the basis for the following idea which
I believe may be of interest and use to all cyronicists. This idea is
that the cloning news, while not of great relevance directly to
cryonics, is an example of a "watershed" biological event that many
people had been dismissing and discounting as a far-in-the-future (if
ever), way-out, science-fiction type thing. AND SUDDENLY IT HAS
HAPPENED. Therefore, right now, and for the next while, the general
scientific public may be more receptive to other way-out,
science-fiction type ideas, such as cryonics and perfected suspended
animation (that is, until cloning becomes routine and everyone starts
saying "What's so advanced about cloning mature cells? Its just a simple
biological technique. I knew it could be done all along"). I have
additional evidence of such an attitude change from another source who
told me that an organic chemist that he was dealing with said to him the
other day that the cloning news had made him think more seriously and
positively about the possibility of cryonics being able to work. So my
advice to everyone is, right now while the cloning news is still "hot",
perhaps we should all put out an increased effort to persuade and
recruit scientific-minded people to our cause. I certainly intend to
renew my Prometheus Project efforts using this persuasion tool.
