John, I can see the viability of your logic insofar as investment in
stocks that will boom if cryonics does work. There is, however,
another perspective on cryonics-related investment that I find
interesting.

We know that even with a good cryopreservation, current methods
greatly damage and quite possibly destroy almost half of all brain
cells. Let us assume that $10 million US dollars could buy the
scientific research that would save those cells.

Picking a number more or less out of the air, let's say that 1 billion
cells are destroyed in the average cryonicist's brain at
cryopreservation.

If 400 cryonicists pay out the $10 million dollars, that's $2500/per
year for 10 years dollars for each cryonicist ($25,000 total over 10
years). So what is the cost per brain cell?

$25,000/1 billion brain cells == 25 X 10 ^ -6 dollars or 25 X 10 ^ -4
cents/brain cell. So it's what, about one-ten thousandths of a cent
per brain cell? Is that the price for moving those potentially
destroyed brain cells into the distant future?

Pretty good investment right there...

Considering this perspective, I have taken a full-time job and am
considering moving my studies from a full-time to a part-time basis.
If that works out, I should be able to upgrade my Prometheus pledge.
It sounds like too good an investment to pass up.
