These people are in a unique, important and historical position: being able to see the value of cryonics and with the wherewithall to do a lot about it. What has happened at previous conferences? Who attended? What specifically has been accomplished at previous conferences? Who is expected to attend this year? How much would or will you invest in life extension/cryonics if your net worth is, or ever reaches 10 million? How about 100 million? What avenues of life extension/cryonics are being ignored? A serious multimillion dollar advertising campaign? Full funding for Prometheus? What about not having to be frozen in the first place via Full Sub-cephalic body replacement (often incorrectly referred to as a "head transplant")? Are there ongoing efforts to recruit those wealthy individuals interested in life extension but not yet sold on cryonics, such as Wallace Steinberg (inventor of the Reach toothbrush and biotech entrepreneur developing transgenic pig organs for the transplantation market)? Most cryonicists are lousy salesman due to being overly scientific and wanting to qualify every statement and make sure the prospect is fully informed in every way and not pressured one bit. This is often an admirable trait, but sometimes I feel like we could use some old fashioned hard selling. Some will probably reply that discussing how others should spend their money is inappropriate and ungrateful for what these people have done and are continuing to do for cryonics. I understand that view and think we can convey appreciation and respect while still asking serious questions and perhaps even attempting to "sell" these people on drastically increasing their donations and investments. Most of these people are self-made and are not thin-skinned. They can take it. So let's talk about it.
