Subject: An Irrelevant Issue

From my point of view, the probability of the success of cryonics
is an irrelevant issue.
In 1964, when I decided to become involved in cryonics (before the
word "cryonics" had been coined), there were no organizations offering
cryonics services and no one had yet been frozen.
Yet, I was ecstatic at discovering an idea that might help me
survive. I still feel that way today.
To me, the only issue that's relevant is whether cryonics *can*
work. The evidence that cryonics *can* work is greater today than in 1964.
The reason I see the issue of the probability of it working as
irrelevant is that anyone's perception of this -- including the extreme
optimists *and* the extreme pessimists -- has no effect whatever on my
attitude or behavior.
As far as I'm concerned, if the odds of cryonics working are good
*or* bad, my only concern is to work as hard as I can to make the odds
better.
