Subject: CRYONICS: Natural Cell Death

There was a report, 2 June '92, on the BBC's Discovery program about some work
at Univ. College, London, on natural cell death. The argument, in its extreme
form, was that cells naturally die unless they are in appropriate communication
with other cells. This explains several phenomenon, the most obvious being how
a constant cell population is maintained even though cell replication is
continuing throughout life.

The researcher commented that this most obvious theory probably had not been put
forward before even though the phenomenon has been known for almost a hundred
years, because people are afraid to think about death!
