X-Message-Number: 8853 Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 15:05:13 -0600 From: Steve Jackson <> Subject: New Words Of course, new words have to be explained, too, and run the risk of sounding like technobabble - or, worse, like pseudo-scientists trying to invent technobabble. What about "indefinite life span"? (Same problem as the search for replacements for "dying" and "frozen." Some cryonicists are terribly uncomfortable with those words, and want to say "When I deanimate (or "leave this life cycle") I'll be cryonically suspended." Unfortunately, this sounds a lot like the stuff you get from the kind of people who are just dying to get on that spaceship behind the comet . . . which is why I tell my friends "When I die, they're going to freeze me, and I might come back someday."
