X-Message-Number: 8893 From: Stephen Bogner <> Subject: Why use humans for research instead of animals? Date: Thu, 4 Dec 1997 15:02:36 -0700 I may have missed the premise of the "Donate Bodies for Research" thread. Why are dead and dying human subjects preferred over animal models for research? Surely the state of research is not so far advanced that the subtle difference between an animal model and a human model has become an issue. The moral issue, not to mention hypocrisy, of "killing off" frozen test subjects (who - if we believe our own rhetoric - have a non-zero potential for reanimation) would make me uncomfortable, to say the least. I am not often roused to moral indignation, but this is one concept that I find alarming and shocking. Steve. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=8893
