Anybody know of a >research facility looking for guinea pigs? Interesting idea you have there: If I understand you correctly, you wouldn't be able to pay for the cryopreservation of your body/brain, but you would allow yourself to be an experimental subject for free? Actually, hemi, this very subject has come up just recently on Cryonet, the cryonics email list ( to reply). Specifically, I posed the question of whether any cryonics foundations had yet found people willing to donate their bodies to the foundation in a "donating my body to science" vein. The opportunity to freeze someone who was not actually hoping to be revived in the future would provide the cryonicists a chance to examine the subject's brain *after* the cryopreservation in order to determine just how good the freezing methods were, and provide invaluable data on that subject, hopefully allowing a chance to improve freezing methods. Someone else on Cryonet asked about/proposed the concept of freezing someone for free if that person would allow the foundation to examine *part* of their frozen brain, retaining most of the "guinea pig's" brain in the liquid nitrogen dewar for centuries, while allowing the foundation to "dissect" some portion for experimental purposes. The general idea, being, I guess, that some unimportant part of the brain would be used for that purpose. As far as your request about research foundations who freeze people, yes, there are four. Just search the net using Altavista, Lycos, etc., for cryonics or cryonet and you'll find plenty. Ta-Ta. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=8898
