X-Message-Number: 8905 From: Olaf Henny <> Subject: Conversion of Measurements For Biochemical Substances Date: Sat, 6 Dec 1997 14:42:47 -0800 Hi: I am at a loss translating biochemical measurements. I have had recently some tests done to assess my hormonal output and other health factors. Unfortunately, the results came back in the amount of substance measurement of mole i.e. mmol/L or umol/L, while my (useful) reference tables are in ng/ml. The Lab gives of course "should be" references, but I have no idea if they mean 'for an adult man in his prime. or, more likely, for a fellow of my age. Since mole measurement vary in their conversion to metric from substance to substance, I am at a loss of figuring out, what these tests are supposed to tell me. It would be nice to have a set of comprehensive conversion tables, if they are available on the net somewhere, but the substances I am particularly interested in are: - Cholesterol mmol/L ---> metric - Triglycerites mmol/L ---> metric - Thyroid Function (TSH) mU/L ---> metric - IGF-1 (Somatomedin C) nmol/L ---> metric - 17 OH Progesterone nmol/L ---> metric If anyone could help me obtain the above conversions, I would be much obliged, better yet would be pointers to a source of comprehensive conversion tables for biomedical substances as well as for tables indicating optimum hormone levels. Thank you in advance, Olaf Henny Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=8905
