The course will run from approximately 1 p.m. to 5 or 6 p.m. The course will have both practical and cognitive aspects. Cognitive training will address issues such as preventing sudden death, responding to sudden death and the importance of preventing ischemic injury in all forms of death. Practical training will include CPR and perhaps some scenario practice with a portable ice bath (PIB). There will be no monetary charge for attending this course, but a Cdn$50 deposit is required in advance of the date of the course. The deposit will be refunded in person to all those who actually attend. There will be no refund to those who do not attend. Registration will be limited to the first 10 people to send the deposit -- other deposits will be refunded by mail. (Use accompanying application form.) The course will be taught by Ben Best, who is President of the Cryonics Society of Canada. Ben is a registered CPR instructor with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario as well as a registered First Aid Instructor with the Canadian Red Cross Society. Ben has attended two cryonics Transport Training courses, one at Alcor in 1991 and one at BioPreservation in 1996, both supervised by Mike Darwin. LIFE EXTENSION/CRYONICS DINNER On Sunday, January 18th at 18:30 (6:30 pm) in Toronto. This is a chance for people interested in all forms of Life Extension (including Cryonics) to get-together and discuss their views and experiences. There is no formal presentation or start time. Tables are reserved under the name Ben Best, but people are invited to arrive beginning at 6:30 p.m. We will probably still be talking at 9 p.m., so 8 p.m. would not be too late to arrive. Very inexpensive vegetarian dishes can be ordered at the counter and brought to the table (cafeteria-style). Or, people can simply buy a glass of juice and join in the discussion. This is a non-smoking event. Drop-in and chat! Bring your friends!
