As long as the organisation remains in crontrol (ie is not bankrupt) this is highly unlikely assuming that the client paid at least the minimum funding requirement. Of course if the organisation is bankrupt or a receiver is appointed by a court pending litigation, then the receiver will do whatever is most likely to maximise his fee income within the law. Of course some time in the future there could be laws in existance that protect cryopreserved people. At present, the receiver of a failed medical institution will not order the execution of all patients in its care, because the law (and public opinion) does not allow him to. The difficulty with crypreserved people is that most people and all legislatures think that they are dead bodies incapable of revival. > > -Can a life insurance policy be taken out with the client as his/her own > beneficiary, receiving the benefits himself/herself upon their death, and > then using them to pay for cryonic upkeep the cryonics organisation is made the beneficiary of the policy > or as funds at his/her disposal > upon "awakening" from cryonic sleep? > there are organisations such as the Reanimation Foundation and LifePact, that are separate from cryonics organisations, who would offer such a facility. > -What happens to all the clients if a company goes out of business? > The cryopreserved people could be killed by rotting or burning, or it is possible that a large organisation may mount a rescue operation for the benefit of the general public image of cryopreservation as a whole. I recommend that you look at <http://www.longevb.demon.co.uk/lr.htm> where you will find many helpful articles on these subjects, and links to most cryonics organisations websites.. -- ***************************************** Sincerely, * Longevity Report * * http://www.longevb.demon.co.uk/lr.htm * John de Rivaz * Fractal Report * * http://www.longevb.demon.co.uk/fr.htm * * Music I like - see homepage * ***************************************** In the information age, sharing can increase world wealth enormously, because giving information does not decrease your information. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohndeR Fast loading, very few slow pictures Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=9043
