Subject: Values

Can values be right or wrong? One thought is that a sadist may be
said to have wrong values in that he/she wants to do harm to others.
The values are wrong in the sense that coercion is justified in
preventing the end they motivate.
I have thought about this issue in connection with the problem of
whether such people would be "curable" without sacrificing their
identity. I think they would, in a reasonable sense, because one
could undergo rather profound changes in certain ways, while
retaining impressions of an earlier disposition, which would seem like
oneself rather than another person.
