Surely they could be happy if they could at least start living in closed
communities with likeminded people according to the lifestyle of times gone
by. In the future there are sure to be communities of people who fantasise
about the late 20th century, and they will welcome people who really lived
then.
At present we see communities of people who fantasise about and enact all
sorts of periods in history - the most famous probably being the Amish.
Given indefinite lifespan, such fantasies may being to pall and the people
involved could consider either changing the time period of the fantasy they
live in, or indeed entering the real world.
