This has certainly been said before, but I can't recall anyone mentioning it 
this time round:

Of course a backup may be the second worst thing to annihilation without 
backup and so the backup is still worthwhile. But the above thought 
experiment suggests it still may not be quite what many people seek when 
they discuss immortality.
